Huge Hallmark Virus Alert E-mail – HOAX

I am writing this post so people to not get their panties in a bunch like I first did.

False email alert warns of ‘the worst virus ever’ circulating in the form of an attachment labeled ‘POSTCARD’ or ‘POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK’. It also says that you need to send the attached e-mail to all your contacts in your e-mail list. They also say this has been confirmed by Snopes.com and Norton is gearing up for this. It mentioned if clicked it will eat or burn a whole in your hard drive.

Well folks after researching this I am afraid this too is a e-mail hoax. I guess some people out there have nothing better to do.

Now there are viruses that are very real and you need to be very aware of there threat and some do come in the form of phony Hallmark e-cards and other e-cards. The best you can do is try to find the difference between what is real and what isn’t, Snopes.com is excellent at that kind of information.

For instance this is a very real virus that is coming in a form of e-card
REAL VIRUS:
Messages with subject headers such as ‘You’ve received a postcard from a school-mate!’ or ‘You’ve received a Hallmark E-Card,’ etc. may contain links to malicious Web pages.

It is a Trojan threat and does not say it will burn a whole in your hard drive and so on like the e-mail alert mentions it will do when you click on it.
